Avila University is a private Catholic institution in Kansas City, Missouri, founded in 1916 by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. Admission Requirements (Undergraduate & Graduate)

Undergraduate Admissions:

English proficiency: TOEFL iBT: 61; IELTS exam – an overall score of at least 5.0 with no individual band score below 5.0; Duolingo score of 90 or higher; and other approved English Language test or program with score consistent with above approved scores.

Graduate Admissions:

  • English proficiency: TOEFL iBT: 75; IELTS exam – an overall score of at least 6.0 with no individual band score below 5.5; Duolingo score of 110 or higher; Pearson PTE 50 or higher; and other approved English Language test or program with score consistent with above approved scores.
  • Master’s in education (MAEd): Requires minimum GPA 3.0 on undergraduate transcript; application with official transcripts.
  • MBA (Business):
    • Must hold a bachelor’s degree.
    • No GMAT required.
    • GPA 2.75+ qualifies for regular admission; GPA <2.5 may still be accepted provisionally.
    • Rolling admissions for domestic students; international applicants should apply 90 days prior to semester start to allow for visa processing.

Scholarships for International Students

Avila University Caritas Scholarship for Community Impact

A scholarship competition for Indonesian high school seniors passionate about community service. Participants design, execute, and document a community service project for a chance to study at Avila University, Kansas City, Missouri — a Catholic university focused on compassion, social justice, and global engagement.

Prizes

  • Winner: Full 4-year tuition (≈$170,000) + $5,000 first-year living stipend.
  • 5 Finalists: $5,000 first-year scholarship each.

Eligibility

  • Indonesian citizen in Grade 12 (SMA/MA).
  • Minimum GPA 3.0/4.0.
  • IELTS 6.0 (by finalist stage).
  • One project entry per student.
